June 2010 - Naval architecture firm Vripack is an expert in creating globe trotting exploration yachts and that is exactly what you see when you look at the design of the new generation Research Vessels. This spacious 78 footer is designed to achieve very high standards. Only materials of high marine quality are used in the construction of this yacht and so with this world-beater you can most certainly explore the best and forget about the rest!
The Research Vessel 78’ is an azimuth propelled, displacement type, ocean going motor yacht with high flared bow and curved transom. This bruiser has a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure and is very suitable for sailing in the Northern regions like the Baltic Sea and the North Atlantic. The most important features of this design are the seaworthiness, safety and reliability to which Vripack pays a lot of attention since 1961. The yacht will be designed and constructed in a manner fit for her intended use and she will be able to safely roam the seas in all loading conditions. The intention is that the yacht is going to be used as a luxury private yacht for worldwide deep sea cruising. All systems, equipment and outfitting will be suitable for such service. Particular care is taken to ensure that she is fit for use in ice cold and steamy hot conditions. All equipment and systems fitted on board will be able to encounter all types of climate conditions. The above mentioned features combined make this motor yacht suitable to cruise all around the world for long periods of time with owner and guests on board.
Because this Research Vessel is very spacious, she can easily be designed to fit a warm and cozy owner’s stateroom together with stylish guest staterooms. What makes this vessel really special is the possibility to fit in a garage suitable for a ‘Mercedes G class’ and a storage room adjacent to this garage allowing to explore back lands on remote Islands. All of this can be fitted in the fore peak of this yacht. Next to that she offers enough space to create multiple tender, kayak and diving storages on the fore and aft deck. An enormous fold up swimming platform is placed aft and there is plenty of room left for a great exploration deck. Vripack has drawn up a complete design which still leaves ample space to customize the multifunctional space for sister vessels. The interior of this Research Vessel can be completely customized to the wishes of the owner. So if you want to enjoy the beauty of nature with a ‘no nonsense-go-anywhere’ attitude you should really focus on this vessel!
